The Chinese government stipulates that the production, sale and use of disposable foam plastic tableware shall be prohibited from January 1, 2001 for the following reasons:
1. Foam plastic tableware is difficult to recycle after being used up;
2. The blowing agent used in the production of some enterprises is butane (that is, the gas of the lighter), which is easy to catch fire and unsafe;
3. At high temperature (>65℃), harmful substances are easy to dissolve and unsafe to use, especially when used in microwave ovens, it is easy to melt;
4. The product has a large volume and is inconvenient for transportation and storage;
5. Not easy to decompose, pollute the environment and be harmful to human body;
6. Alternative products (corn starch tableware) appear.
